Care guide for your bags
Caring for your bags.
Our bags are designed to be your forever plus one. Whether crafted from velvety faux suede or soft faux leather, a little care goes a long way to keeping your bag looking its best.
Faux Suede Care
The Classic Ruby Bag - Large (Merlot & Denim)
For a soft, textured finish, we love faux suede for the way it adds texture to any outfit. Here’s how to care for it:
1. Avoid Direct Contact with Water
Faux suede is water-resistant but not fully waterproof. If your bag gets wet:
Pat it dry gently with a clean cloth - avoid rubbing, as this can damage the material.
2. Clean Gently
Use a soft-bristle brush, lint roller or wet wipes to remove everyday dust and dirt. For minor stains, a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap works well. For tougher stains, a faux suede cleaner can be used - always test it on a discreet area first.
3. Store with Care
When not in use, place it in the dust bag provided to protect it from dust and scratches. Fill it with tissue paper or a soft cloth to help maintain its shape. Store in a cool, dry place, away from humidity and direct sunlight. This is especially important if you live in a humid climate.
4. Use it regularly
Extended storage can cause stickiness or surface changes, so carry it often and show it off <3
5. Appreciate Its Character
The nature of faux suede is that it’s prone to scratches, which adds to its unique charm over time :)
6. Avoid Harsh Elements
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as it can fade the color. Keep your bag away from intense heat sources like heaters or radiators.
Faux Leather (textured finish) Care
Cleo City Bag & Pouch, Rodeo Bag
A smooth, sleek finish. Our faux leather is both durable and low-maintenance. Here’s how to care for it:
1. Wipe Clean When Needed
Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe away surface dirt or marks.
For stubborn spots, use a gentle soap solution, but avoid soaking the material.
2. Avoid Prolonged Water Exposure
While faux leather is more resistant than suede, it’s still best to keep it dry to prevent potential damage over time.
3. Store Properly
Always store in the dust bag provided.
Maintain its shape by filling it with tissue paper or soft cloth.
Keep it away from direct sunlight or humid environments to prevent cracking or peeling.
4. Use it regularly
Extended storage can cause stickiness or surface changes, so carry it often and show it off <3
5. Mind the Edges and Corners
These areas are prone to wear. Avoid dragging or placing your bag on rough surfaces to minimise scuffing.

5. Mind the Edges and Corners
These areas are prone to wear. Avoid dragging or placing your bag on rough surfaces to minimise scuffing.
6. Handle with extra care to prevent scuffings
Matte faux leather is more prone to scratches than glossy finishes. While it is definitely a sturdy material, to keep it looking fresh, avoid placing it on rough or abrasive surfaces & be mindful of sharp objects (like keys or jewelry) that might scuff the surface.
Foldaway Tote (Dotty) Care
1. Mind the Print
The screen print adds personality to your tote, but it’s also delicate. Over time, scratching or rubbing (especially against rough surfaces or when folded tightly for long periods) may cause the print to wear or fade. To preserve the design, avoid aggressive friction or sharp objects near the printed area.
2. Nylon Fabric Tips
Wipe clean with a damp cloth for daily dirt or dust. For a deeper clean, hand wash gently in cold water with mild soap. Avoid machine washing, which can distort the shape or damage the print. Air dry only, avoid direct heat or dryers.
3. Handle With Care
The tote is stitched with care, especially around the handles, which bear the most weight. Avoid overloading with hefty items. Repeated strain or rough handling (especially dragging or yanking) can affect the stitching over time.
4. Store It Right
When folding the tote, avoid creasing directly over the printed area. Store in a cool, dry place to prevent humidity damage or stickiness from prolonged compression.
